The Society of Homeopaths Investigates!!
November 7, 2007I was thinking of blogging about something other than homeopathy and the SoH but yesterday (6 November) I finally received a reply to my complaint about Sue Young, so I thought I’d share it with you. I’ll type it in green with my comments in the usual black for contrast. (more…)
Who to Believe?
November 6, 2007It’s November, the month of leaf-fall, fireworks and bonfires. Judging by the smell surrounding the latest SoH press release, somebody is burning underpants rather than leaves on their bonfire this year.
Nick Cohen of the Observer seems to have rattled their cage this time. I notice that once again the SoH is claiming that the makers of the Newsnight expose failed to produce a single example of a Society member giving dangerous and misleading advice. I thought I would contact Sense About Science and ask them about this. Arathi Prasad, their Public Liaison bod, very kindly and promptly replied and said that in fact Sense About Science did supply a transcript that named a Society member to the SoH. This directly contradicts the SoH position so who should I believe? On the one hand, we have researchers who have filmed evidence to back up their assertions, on the other we have a self-styled professional and regulatory body that not only ignores complaints from members of the public as you can see from reading my post “The Society of Homeopaths – A Pretense of Professionalism” but also breaks its own Code of Ethics on its own website, as Gimpy has shown I was going to dismember their letter to the Observer in more detail but unfortunately Gimpy has beaten me to it.
