Powder Keg

April 8, 2010

I don’t normally do political opinion pieces but recent events in South Africa have prompted an exception. My wife and in-laws are black South Africans so my visits there are not as touristy as those of many European visitors. I like to believe that gives me a bit more knowledge of the country. Probably the same level of knowledge that an Urdu speaker from Lahore would gain about Britain from visiting relatives in Bradford. (more…)

“In Defense of Homeopathy”

July 6, 2009

[BPSDB]
One of the automatic links generated by WordPress for a previous blogpost led to this, which turned out to be a cut-and-paste job of Jeanette Winterson’s article “In Defense of Homeopathy” from the 13 November 2007 edition of The Guardian. (more…)

A Brief Investigation of Homeopathic Research

January 8, 2008

In the post “Why I Oppose Homeopathy” I referred to the research that the Maun Homeopathy Project cited to support their assertions. I noted that hey did not give internet links and that I did not subscibe to the journals in question so I was unable to comment in detail on the claims.

Since then, a reader has kindly emailed me copies of two of the papers. (more…)

Why I Oppose Homeopathy

December 19, 2007

Homeopaths, particularly the non-medically qualified such as Sue Young, claim that their opponents either do not understand homeopathy or are in the pay of Big Pharma. (more…)

AIDS, Malaria, Homeopathy & Southern Africa

November 16, 2007

I’ve been reading about the Maun Homeopathy Clinic in Botswana here. It is a depressingly dangerous combination of danger, delusion and humanitarianism. (more…)
